Robert N. “Bob” Madsen
Richfield, Utah
Our loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather Robert N. “Bob” Madsen passed away October 5, 2012, after a three year battle with cancer. He was born February 9, 1932, to James Albert and Ila Mae Arnoldson Madsen in Richfield, Utah. They moved many different times when he was a child. Times were hard then and they didn’t have much. When his parents divorced , his mother married Grant Shaw. They settled down on the farm in Vermillion and Bob learned the hard farming work. However, his interest was always in cars as he followed in his father’s footsteps. Bob attended many different schools, the last being North Sevier High School in Salina. However, anxious to start working, he left during his junior year.
Bob worked for McKinley Chevrolet, now Classic Motors for 43 years. He had a talent for body and fender work. He was proud of his reputation of being the best. Bob was always the artist, which added to his talent for painting cars. In his later years he restored jeeps, entering them in car shows and always winning a prize.
He married Kaye Chynoweth, August 18, 1961. They later divorced. They had three children together: Kelly, Tammy and Jodi. Bob loved to spend time with his children and took them on many trips, hunting and fishing. His favorite place was the Boulder Mountain.
On June 10, 1978, Bob married Cheryl Ann Gramse and brought to the family her daughter, Annette. Bob and Cheryl had one daughter together, Jamie, who passed away December 24, 2009. In his retirement years he enjoyed being at home working in his shop and planting a beautiful yard.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Richfield; son, Robert Kelly (Kathy) Madsen, Annabella; daughters, Tammy (Bret) Albrecht, Annabella; Jodi (David) Jolley, Salina; Annette (Dean) Walling, Lakeland, FL; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; sister, Jackie Sudweeks, Far West.
