Bob Willden
Monroe, Utah
Robert “Bob” M. Willden, 86, was born to Ervin and Grace Carling Willden on October 24, 1937, in Fillmore. He died as he lived, surrounded by family at his home in Monroe on October 7, 2024. Bob loved the mountains nearly as much as he loved being home with his wife and children and thus he became the old man of the mountain. Family meant everything to Bob, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who truly knew Bob were adopted into, and considered part of, the family. Bob was married to his sweetheart, Twila Washburn, on May 4, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti, Utah temple on June 10, 1972. She preceded him in death December 29, 2017.
Contracting rheumatic fever at a young age prevented Bob from continuing school past the 8th grade. Despite his lack of formal education, he found ways to provide for his family through his dedicated hard work ethic which he passed down to his posterity. Bob spent his time refereeing the youth baseball and basketball teams and umpired for Little League teams.
Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he held many callings including as an area stake seventy. His favorite calling was in the Sunday School, and the family was also called to serve at the local Yoomeenchoopeets Indian Branch. In his later years, he spent his time fishing and helping out his son Ben in his firewood business. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Bob is survived by his sons: Ben (Becky), Richfield; and Barry (Janet), Venice; 15 grandkids, and 22 great-grandkids; siblings Jay, Salina; and Sam (Addie), AZ.
Bob was preceded in death by his sweetheart Twila; daughter Marvanna and son-in-law Martin Stringfellow; great-grandson, Todd Marshall; siblings: Louis, Grover, Bert, Corrine, Vyonne, DeVoy; and sister-in-law, Sharlene.
