Elsinore, Utah

Robert James Morey was born on June 19, 1947 in Bloomington, California to Joseph and Bonnie (Bird) Morey. He passed away peacefully in his home in Elsinore on December 24, 2024 and is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

From the age of eight, Bob began a life-long passion for music, learning to play the trumpet, performing in band and marching groups throughout his life. He went on to study music at California State University, Fullerton in 1966. After college, he worked at School of Hope, a school for special needs adults, in San Bernardino, California as director of training guidance. He was the first single male in California to open a private home for special needs care. At School of Hope, Bob met the love of his life, Mickie; they married in 1972. In 1974 Bob studied electronic engineering and moved on to work in the steel and petroleum refinery industries. Due to a work-related injury, Bob had to adjust, retraining as a musical instrument repairman in 1986 and opened his own business, Bob Morey Instrument Repair in his garage in Fontana, California. For 31 years Bob served various Inland Empire school districts and colleges, fixing their instruments with love and care, always tailoring to the needs of families and the demands of school district budgets. He inspired teachers, students, and parents with his love of music education, amiable demeanor, and dedication to excellence, changing the fabric of the area's programs.

Bob and Mickie had their first child, James in 1973, who shares his Dad’s love for music education and love for Jesus. Their daughter Aleacia followed in 1978, who also shares a love for music and the Lord. Family meant the world to Bob and he delighted in his children, as well as his 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons.

Bob was a man of faith; his most precious thing in life was his relationship with the Lord. He gave his life to Jesus Christ in 1964 and served in the churches he attended, which included Calvary Chapel Rialto, California and Little Green Valley Calvary Chapel in Monroe, Utah. Every morning you would see him spread out his Bible and books on the kitchen table to study and write notes. He loved sharing his faith with others and it showed in how he conducted every area of his life. One of Bob’s greatest joys was to see his son and son-in-law both become pastors. He struggled valiantly for the past 13 years with Parkinson's disease. He is now healed and praising the Lord in heaven. This disease did not define Bob, but gave him the constant opportunity to glorify Jesus.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mickie; his son, James (Sheri) Morey; their children, Sean Morey (Sarah), Patricia Bakker (Dean); great-grandsons, Ben and Killian Bakker; his daughter, Aleacia Widdows (Allen) and their children, Wesley Widdows (Kat), Robbie Widdows, Dinesha Lowden, Emma and Amelia Widdows; a bonus son, Richard Owens; his sister, Sonia Reaume; and nephews, Wayne and William. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Warren.
