Robert T McCoard passed away June 1, 2016 in Ogden, Utah, from brain cancer. He was born July 28, 1931 to Chloe and Bert McCoard in Homedale, Idaho. He married Larene Newby on July 23, 1952 in Marysvale, Utah. Together they raised four boys: Bart, Allen, Fred and Scott. The family was later sealed in the Logan Temple on July 28, 1961.
Robert lost Larene on June 22, 2010. He then married Darlene Bullard April 16, 2011 and she passed away July 10, 2014. Robert is proceeded in death by his son Fred who died suddenly on March 13, 2014. Robert is survived by his sons and their families; Bart and Kayla, Allen and Janet, daughter-in-law, Valerie; Scott and Melody; his brother, JC (Linda); and sister, Colleen (Bruce) Smith. He has 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Robert took great pride serving his country during the Korean War from April 1951 to August 1954. He was very skilled as an auto mechanic. Robert worked at the Defense Depot in Ogden (DDO) for 29 years and then retired.
Robert loved to spend time outdoors camping, fishing and hunting with his boys and his extended family. He especially loved taking his grandkids camping and sharing his love of the outdoors. He spent many, many hours organizing his treasured family photos and putting them together in albums. Later in life he took up water coloring and he would paint pictures of the photos in his albums. Robert leaves a legacy of love for family and service to others. He is loved by many and will be missed.
The family would like to thank Lisa and the employees from Intermountain Healthcare and Hospice and also the caregivers from Wasatch Health Care Center for their compassionate and tender care of Robert.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. in the Redmond Cemetery. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, 50 S. 100 W., on Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery with military rites. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
