Robert Dale Hansen, 74, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2016 surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was born in the family farmhouse in Richfield, Utah to Phillip L. and Mada S. Hansen.
Robert was raised on a farm north of Richfield. He graduated from Richfield High School, where he excelled in track. He attended Snow College in Ephraim, and later moved to Salt Lake City, where he worked in retail sales. While dancing at the Sojourner Club one night he met the love of his life, Ellen Kenney, whom he married in 1989. She preceded him in death.
Robert and Ellen loved dancing, entertaining, and mostly doing anything that involved being with their family. Robert loved Nascar (especially Jeff Gordon), Denver Broncos, Utah Jazz, Utah Utes, and anything to do with Zombies. He was an "old school" true gentleman. He looked out for his family, especially Ellen. When Ellen worked at night, he drove to her work to warm her car and follow her home to make sure she made it safely. Ellen’s wishes were his desire. He made a point to help anyone he could in any way possible. He was a "give the shirt off of your back" type of person to the end.
He will be missed dearly by his children: Catherine (Jeremy) Jeffs, Christine (Eric) Halford, Michael (Carol) Hansen, Bill (Vickie) McCarty, Ron (Tiffany) McCarty, Lisa (Andy) Knudsen, Dan (Destiny) McCoy; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Lavona Morley and Phillip Hansen. The family is at peace knowing Robert and Ellen are together again, and would like to thank his friends and neighbors for looking in on him since Ellen’s passing.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Richfield 15th Ward, 225 East Center Street in Richfield, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to share stories of Robert. A graveside prayer will be given at Richfield City Cemetery following the memorial service.
