Bob Hacken

Robert John Hacken, 74, passed away August 11, 2018 in St. George. Bob was born in Sacramento, CA on November 20, 1943. His father, Nephi Rudolph Hacken, was a civil engineer working on the dikes and river projects for the government. His mother, Leola Baldwin Jones, was a homemaker. Bob had one brother, Richard; and three sisters: Joan Sainsbury, Sue Thornton, and Carolyn Dean (deceased).
Bob went to Encina High School in Sacramento and then served an LDS mission for two and a half years to Germany. After his mission he attended Brigham Young University where he graduated with a BA in German Studies and History. During his junior year he married Justine "Kitsie" Leiola Parker on August 30, 1966. They have four children: Kevin Hacken, Zsana Baumann, Jason Hacken, and Tyler Hacken. Bob has five grandchildren.
Bob had a career in retail management. He worked for Wards, Target, Revco Drugs, Kenworth Trucking and Walden Books.
An avid sportsman, there wasn’t a sport in which Bob didn’t excel. He was a track star in high school and as an adult he peaked many mountains including Whitney, Macchu Picchu, Mt. Fuji, Orizaba and Popocatapetl, and finally the base camp of Everest. He rode his bicycle from Washington state to Mexico. He backpacked the Grand Canyon over 20 times. He hunted, played racquet and pickleball.
Bob will be remembered as the most handsome man in town with a funny wit to match. He was always the benevolent leader, guiding his managers and his family to perfection.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel in Richfield, where friends may gather to visit with the family from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Joseph Cemetery.
