Robert Maynard Cowley, 86, passed away May 23, 2012 at his home in Venice. He was born September 9, 1925 in Venice to Charles William and Leah M. Gardner Cowley. He married Lavon “Bonnie” Larsen July 17, 1945 in Phoenix, Arizona. Their marriage was solemnized February 12, 1958 in the Manti Temple.
Bob was born and raised in Venice, the home that he loved. He only left to serve in the Air Force, where he became a pilot. After his training and awaiting orders, he and Bonnie were married in Phoenix. Luckily the war ended the next month.
Bob had many jobs and worked very hard to take care of his family. He was very active in the LDS Church, holding many positions including bishop’s counselor, high councilman, Elder’s Quorum President and Scout Master. He worked for Cowley Feed until he was 82.
Bob loved gardening. His garden was a showplace and many people shared in the harvest. He will be greatly missed by his family who love him dearly.
Survived by wife, Bonnie, Venice; children: Cindy (Duane) Jensen, Highland; Barbara (Ed) Tolleson, Nevada; Robin (Teresa) Cowley, Kansas; and James (Barbara) Cowley, California; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister: Sharon (Margaret) Cowley, Venice; Phil Cowley, Salt Lake City; Dean (Sana) Cowley, Idaho; Julian (Deanna) Cowley, Idaho; Leeanna (Jerald) Jensen, Salt Lake City; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Cowley, Gunnison; Celia Cowley, Juliann Cowley, both of Venice.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Venice Ward Chapel. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary and Tuesday at the ward chapel in Venice from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050 and Utah Honor Guard.
