Bob Bown
Fayette, Utah

Robert Cecil "Bob” Bown was born August 8, 1954 in Spanish Fork to Cecil Elton Bown and Lorna Rae Nielson Bown. He was the oldest of five sons. He grew up in the Gunnison Valley, living most of his life in Fayette. He graduated from Gunnison Valley High School in 1972. He then attended Utah State University where he served as the Student Body Athletic Vice President. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Ag business and Ag Economics.

Bob’s passions were his family, faith and farming.

He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bob served a mission for the church in the Canada Halifax mission.

He had the ability to talk to anyone and made friends wherever he went.

His family brought him his greatest joy. He spent endless hours teaching all his children and grandchildren a love of nature, fishing, wildlife, agriculture and of course dairy farming. He spent his life dairy farming and loved working with his brothers, children and grandchildren. He loved people. He was always willing to give a helping hand anytime he noticed a need. He had a charitable heart, found the good in people and loved big.

He found joy in his church callings, and served in many different capacities. He was currently the ward mission leader and loved it. He enjoyed a great relationship with family, friends, neighbors and especially the youth.

Bob was married to his eternal sweetheart, Janice Jensen, on June 5, 1980. They enjoyed 44 years together. They have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. They were able to work, play, travel and see many great places as a couple and as a family.

He served on the Utah Governor's Ag Advisory Board, the US Dairy Export Council, the Dairy Farmers of America Mountain Area Council and Corporate DFA board. He made many lifelong friends at home and throughout the county.

He passed away peacefully and very unexpectedly at his home Thursday, September 5, 2024.

He is survived by his wife Janice of Fayette; children: Trent (Holly) Bown, Levan; Alisa (Brett) Gledhill, Mona; and Casey (Marie) Bown, Levan. He was a wonderful grandfather to Gabby (Cody) Hyatt, Aiden Bown, Carter Gledhill, Ian Bown, Darrin Gledhill, Eli Gledhill, Boone Bown and Bodie Bown. He loved his brothers Brent (Candi), Dave (Danielle), Kenneth and Clark (Elise) Bown; mother, Lorna Bown; and his in-laws: Roger and Bonnie Jensen; and countless family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Elton and Clara Hill Bown and Sheldon and Shirley Ogden Nielson; father, Cecil Bown; grandson, Carter Gledhill. We know there was a joyful reunion between Bob and those that he loved so much. We find peace in our knowledge of the Plan of Salvation, but we will miss him greatly.
