Bobby Montoya
Washington State/Sterling
This world lost its best friend on December 26, 2024.
Bobby Montoya, a happy-go-lucky friend to everyone he met, was born October 10, 1981 to Debra Braithwaite and Mike Montoya.
Bobby was proud to call Sterling home and despite extensive travel and many places he laid his head at night, his roots remain in Sterling.
Bobby never met a stranger, making lifelong friends everywhere he went. He didn’t have much to give, but if he had it, it was yours, even if all he had to give was a smile and a hug. The eternal jokester, he always knew how to lighten the mood with a joke.
If you spent any more than a minute in Sterling, Bobby probably washed your windows or pumped your gas at Terry’s store, where he and his big brother and idol Cory, along with James and TL and all the local teenage boys spent countless hours driving Yvonne and Terry crazy- as teenage boys in a small town do. When Yvonne finally had enough of their shenanigans, they would go across the street to raid grandma’s fridge and challenge grandpa to a wrestling match they knew they’d never win.
After graduation Bobby traveled around a lot for work. He eventually made his way to Washington State with his cousins who he loved like siblings. Bobby absolutely loved and treasured his time spent in Alaska working with his closest cousin, Kody.
Bobby took every opportunity to come home to Sanpete and always made time to catch up with his friends and family and explore the mountains, where he felt most at peace.
Bobby’s greatest treasures and most prized assets were his family and friends- and there are many. He would want you to remember him fondly and with a smile.
Preceded in death by his dad, Mike Montoya; grandma, Janice Cox; grandparents, Carl and Orvella Braithwaite; uncles, Tony Montoya and Archie Simonsen; cousin, Alex Piceno and best friend and fur baby Deija.
Survived by his mother, Debra Chase and Clint Lloyd; grandpa, Randall Cox; sister, Kristi and Jeff Hogan; brother, Cory and Candice Montoya; sister, Jamie and Stan McGowan; brother, Jesse and Rachel Chase; sister, Michelle and Brandon Davenport; 15 nieces and nephews and 4 great nieces and nephews (he was so proud and excited to add “great” to his official title). Special cousins who were more like siblings, Kody Montoya, Cami Aguayo, Crystal Aguayo, and a special fur baby Tito. Grandparents Alex Montoya and Sondra Montoya.
