Richard Boyd Barnes “Dick”, 85, of Elsinore, passed away June 24, 2022 in Provo. He was born February 4, 1937 in Graceville, Minnesota to Roy and Earlean Boyd Barnes. He married Vivian Rehm in October of 2002 in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Dick was a very nice, loving, caring, and kind gentle man. He would go into any store and come out with a new friend. He had a love for family, friends, animals and the great outdoors.
Dick served in the Korean war in the Army. He was a Staff Sargent and in the infantry.
Dick owned his own truck hauling pipe for oil rigs in Alaska and also hauled meat across the US. He then sold the truck and joined Millis Transfer out of Black River Falls, WI. There he became a driver trainer. Later he moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where he was regional transportation director for SCA Paper Mill. There he managed 15 different cross-country carriers. He then drove for Indian River Tank Lines and then Alan Ritchey, Inc., hauling mail, where he then retired. In his driving career, he was nominated by Over-the-Road Trucking as driver of the year. He received several trophies from trucking rodeos. He drove 63 years.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian, Elsinore; children: Kevin (Nancy) Barnes, MN; Cindy Barnes, MN; Kurt (Paula) Barnes, HI; Albert (Krysie) Rehm, AZ; and Kendall Rehm (fiancée Kelly McMemain), AZ; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Warren Barnes, MN; brother-in-law, Marlin Schroeder, MN.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alma Schroeder.
A public visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield. Burial will be in Arizona. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
