Richard Gene Simpson, 83 of Centerfield, Utah died July 16, 2014 of causes incident to age. Richard was born on February 16, 1931 to John and Isabella Simpson in Superior, Wyoming. He was raised in Superior, graduated from Superior High School, and attended the University of Wyoming.
Richard married Connie Osborn in Superior, WY. Later, they moved to Centerville and Bountiful, Utah where they raised five boys and a girl. They liked to say they raised a basketball team and a cheerleader. Richard and Connie were later divorced. Richard married Brenda Jones in Sandy. They were later divorced.
Richard worked construction as a young man before finding a career with the Department of Agriculture Ariel Photography Field Office in Salt Lake City as a cartographer and contracting officer. Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid golfer, sportsman, and card shark. He passed his love for the outdoors to his children.
Richard is survived by three sons and a daughter, John (Anna) of South Ogden; James of Hooper; Peter of Salt Lake City; Amy Hammer (Robert) of Woods Cross. He is also survived by a brother and sister, Burton (Amy) of Las Vegas; Phyllis (Randy) of Rock Springs. Richard has ten grandchildren, 5 ½ great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, David and Mark.
