Richard Harrop

Aurora, UT

Richard Harrop born on Dec 29, 1933 to Royal and Stella Harrop, died - August 21, 2014. Sir, My Report "Already it is time for me to report for duty on a new mission, it is time for me to die, for you to go on living." I have returned to report a most fabulous trip, I wish to report that I have tried my best to provide service to my God, country and community. I have tried to honor my country with 21 years in the Air Force and three trips to Viet Nam. As a life long Scouter I was fortunate to have been able to work with many outstanding young men. You gave me many opportunities to serve the church with humbling jobs such as Bishop and sitting on the Stake High Councils. Nothing has brought me more joy on my stay on Earth than my family and the people I’ve met. My family has brought me my greatest happiness. I met, married and shared the first part of my life with a most wonderful girl, Ann Hislop (Married January 16, 1953). She was my greatest source of joy, strength and love while there and I can only hope that we will be united together once again forever. We were blessed to have shared with you seven great and noble spirits as our children on Earth. They were indeed valiant servants and loving children that brought us much happiness. They were our greatest creations and our most valued possessions. Both Ann and Ken which have already reported for duty, when Royal, Robin, Aaron, Annette, Royce and Kandy return, you will see how they have grown while away on their trip. I was able to share in the end my last little bit of time with a wonderful person, Joan Shaw-Gleave (Married July 13, 2013 in Aurora). She was my companion and best friend helping me to learn how to live again, giving so much of herself in the process. I just wish we could have had more time together to see all the wonderful places we had planned for. I am so grateful to you for your gift to us of eternal families. While there I tried to serve You, my family, my church, my country and my fellow man the best I could. I was blessed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to have had the Priesthood in my life while there. I have a strong testimony of You, Your son Jesus Christ, His sacrifice on our behalf, the Holy Ghost and I will continue to serve in any way I can. I only hope you are pleased with my return.

Rich is survived by his wife, Joan of Aurora; six children, Royal, Alaska; Robin, Vernal; Aaron, Japan; Annette Newman, Gunnison; Royce, Layton; and Kandy Mead, Texas; stepchildren; Jewelyn Jensen, Phoenix; Valrie Shaw, Salt Lake City; Mark Shaw, Phoenix; Brett Shaw, Salina; Janet Huntsman, Aurora; Lisa McArthur, Phoenix; 50 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild and sisters, Roslyn, Sandra and Vicky, all of Ogden.
