Rex Duane Lund, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away at the age of 80 in his home in Richfield, Sunday, May 29, 2022. Rex was born October 17, 1941 to Curt and Capitola Heki Lund, the youngest of 4 children. As a teenager he spent much of his time at Hoovers Café where he had his eye on a pretty girl behind the counter. This girl, Virginia “Ginger” Hoover, would become his bride on December 26, 1964 in Marysvale. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on June 5, 2019. Ginger preceded him in death on September 10, 2018.
Rex grew up in Marysvale where he spent his time riding horses and tending the sheep. He spent his spare time hanging out with his friends, swimming, hunting, and causing mischief around the town. He graduated from Marysvale High School and attended Provo Technical College where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Electricity. In between high school and technical college he joined the US Army where he spent time in El Paso TX, Washington DC and Fairbanks AK.
Rex spent many years of his life serving his community in the Piute County Jeep Posse, the Marysvale Fireman’s Club and was an EMT working on the Piute County Ambulance. He spent many years driving truck, working construction and later retired from Questar Gas.
He is survived by his 3 children: Tina (Christopher) Christensen, Waco Duane (Elona) Lund and Dustin Rex (Shelly) Lund; 9 grandchildren, 11 ½ great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Carolyn) Lund.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Curt and Capitola Lund; brother, Ronald (Verlyn) Lund; sister, Margie (Theone) Dalton.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Marysvale Cemetery with military honors by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050 and Utah Honor Guard and Utah Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield from 11:00 -12:00 prior to the services. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
