Rex Conder

December 14, 1939 — April 15, 2018

Rex Conder

Richfield, Utah

Rex Conder, a very busy man, had bigger fields to plow and trails to blaze. He passed away at home in Richfield on April 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family following a long and valiant battle with Alzheimers Disease. He married Carolyn Joy Finch in Richfield on December 29, 1960.

Rex was born December 14, 1939 in Richfield to John and Florence Higgins Conder. As the youngest of eight children, Rex was working on his father’s farm from early childhood. To Rex, the words "work" and "play" were synonymous. He possessed a tireless spirit and an incomparable work ethic. He worked as a farmer, rancher and a farm equipment repairman who was acknowledged as the foremost expert on International Harvester equipment in the inter-mountain west. He was the manager of the Sevier County Landfill for many years.

Rex was happiest when he was driving a tractor around the fields, operating heavy equipment, tackling the challenge of repairing the "un-fix-able", or creating something new in his workshop. He was literally busy all the time.

He enjoyed spending time riding the trails on an ATV or hunting in the hills. Most of all, Rex loved helping people. He was notorious for telling the same corny jokes over and over, delighted if he received a smile or laugh in response.

Rex was devoted to his family and shared an extraordinarily close relationship with his son and best friend, Kelly.

He is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Carolyn; children, Kerry Daniels, Kelly (Mary) Conder, all of Richfield; grandchildren: Kristopher (McKinzie) Daniels, Bountiful; Colton (Tanesha) Conder, Annabella; Aspen Conder, Richfield; great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Daniels, Saidee Daniels, Rex Daniels, Kelton Conder; sister, Vivian Redfern, Ogden; and his beloved dog, Lacie.

He is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Dan and Ivy Hyatt; siblings: Jay (Betty) Conder, Fern (Kent) Nelson, Myrtle Dean (Orel) Jensen, Ray (Marjorie) Conder, Morgan (Mauna Lou) Conder, Betty Lou (Odell) Whitlock; brothers-in-law: Floyd Stapley and Stanley Redfern; favorite dog, Furley.

The family extends their appreciation to the many people who have cared for Rex during his last illness, especially those from Zion’s Way Hospice. Your love and care made a big difference in his day to day life. Thank you.

A celebration of Rex’s life will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Magleby Mortuary, 50 South 100 West in Richfield. Friends may call at the mortuary to visit with the family on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.

"Hey - See this road? It’s not a shortcut! What are you thinking?" Rex, you’ve finally found your road. Follow it as far as it will take you. You’ve Got This.
