Reid Goff Betts, 94, of Manti, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014. Reid was born in Salt Lake City, UT to Reid and Mamie Goff Betts on February 7, 1920.
Reid served in the Army during WWII from 1941-1945. He married his sweetheart Lucile Bowen in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 1, 1957. Reid was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Manti Temple for 12 years. Reid retired from Kennecott in 1982 after 32 years of services. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, fishing, mechanics and working hard with his hands.
Reid is survived by his wife, Lucile; children, Naydene Betts, Celia (Slade) Anderson, Harold (Toni) Betts, Becky (Jim) Mariani, Ed (Gaye) Betts, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Elwood Reid Betts; sister, LaWana (Abe) Neerings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manti Red Church, 300 South Main. Friends may call prior to services on Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Sandy City Cemetery, 9000 South 700 East, at 4:00 p.m. with military rites by the Utah Honor Guard.
