March 24, 2016, at 5:15 this morning a most unique, independent spirit fled the world of pain and suffering into the arms of his dad and his beloved uncle, Keith Anderson. He passed away in Ephraim, Utah. Rawlin Reed Jacobson was born January 29, 1951 in Provo, Utah; his parents, Rawlin V. and Gwen Anderson Jacobson were students at Brigham Young University but had recently returned home to live in Ft. Green.

He lived there until he was almost three years old when he, his baby sister and their parents moved to Ogden, Utah where they resided for two more years. They moved to Ephraim in August 1955.

Reed attended the old two-story Ephraim Elementary/Junior High School until the building now occupied by the Snow College Business Department was built. He graduated from junior high school there, and from Manti High School in 1969. He also attended Snow College and Utah State University.

The summer he was 15, and again at 16, he herded sheep in the mountains east of Heber, Utah for his grandfather, Virgel Jacobson. The summer he was 17 he was seriously injured in a one car rollover and was hospitalized for 6 weeks.

At 19 he managed a service station in Fairview for his dad. He joined the Utah National Guard in 1970 as a medic attached to the 144 th Medical Unit in Salt Lake City, later transferred to the Engineer Guard Unit in Mt. Pleasant totaling 6 years. At 20 he operated a transportation company hauling trailers for the L&M Trailer Company throughout the western states. During the oil leasing craze of 1975 in Sanpete County he worked for a seismograph company.

Reed worked in the livestock business at the Weber Livestock Auction Company in Ogden for several years for his uncle Keith Anderson.

He worked in the Bank of Ephraim from 1977-1980. He married Nancy Probst and they had a daughter Megan Jo. Later divorced. He married Stacy Davis and they had a daughter Jill, later divorced. He married Kimberlee Atkinson, they had a daughter Jacy, later divorced. His daughter Selah was born in 2008.

Survived by: mother, Gwen; daughters: Megan, Jill, Jacy, Selah; granddaughter: McKenzie; grandson, Wilder; brother, Don, Riverton; sisters: Jann J. Anderson, Midvale; Joni J. Gleave, Ephraim; Jean J. Hillyard, St. George; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Reed is preceded in death by his dad; Jacobson and Anderson grandparents; uncle, Keith and aunt, Arlene Anderson; two grandbabies: Brayden and Brooklynn; also a very special friend Bill Anderson.

Reeds quick witt, his complicated jokes and just his presence will be sorely missed by numerous friends and family. Special thanks to all who helped during his last days at home, especially Dayle, Lindsay, and Calvin Strickland, Shelly Parish; cousins: Byron Davis and Wendell A. Jacobson; nephew, Wendell R. Jacobson.

Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Chuck Nunn and all the amazing medical staff at Central Valley Medical Center and Intermountain Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Ephraim Stake Center, 400 East Center where friends may call Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:30am. Interment will be in the Fountain Green Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
