Rae Lou Olsen

Rae Lou Whitlock Olsen, 86, of Mayfield, passed away January 16, 2012 in Provo. She was born March 28, 1925 in Mayfield, a daughter of Kenneth Darwin and Orpha Marie Christiansen Whitlock. She married Elden Erick Olsen, July 6, 1949, the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death in 1983.
Rae Lou graduated from Manti High School, Snow College and Brigham Young University. She spent many years teaching school in Salt Lake City and Boise, Idaho. After retiring from teaching she moved to the family home in Mayfield. Throughout her life she faithfully served her family, her church and her community.
She is survived by her children: Sheri (Von) Sorenson, Boise, ID; Elayne (Roger) Tuttle, Kaysville; Elden (Karen) Olsen, Mapleton; and Kent (Diane) Olsen, Parker, CO; 15 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma (Boyd) Coates, Sheryl (Don) Voorhees, and Barbara (Glen) Winterrowd.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beth Ann (Gerald) Willden; brothers, Charles K. (Ingrid) Whitlock and Glen A. (Susan) Whitlock; a grandson, Blaine Sorenson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mayfield LDS Ward Chapel, 10 East 100 North. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Mayfield Friday evening from 6 to 7:30 and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Fayette Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
