Peter & Ramona Branagh

LAFAYETTE, Calif., July 16, 2012 – As various news and family comments have confirmed, longtime Lafayette residents, Peter (59) and Mona (57) Branagh, died late Saturday afternoon, July 14, in the tragic crash of their single engine Cirrus SR22 while on route from Buchanan Field in Concord, California to Aspen, Colorado. The accident occurred in sudden, severe weather in the vicinity of Richfield, Utah. Independent news and Sevier County sources have said that the location of the accident was in Sevier County’s Saleratus Canyon, about 30 miles southeast of Salina. The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to those involved in the search efforts, and to friends and business associates who have expressed their concern and condolences. Peter and Mona were known for their passionate devotion to their family and faith as well as their commitment to development and design that enhanced the lives of families and the whole community. Peter was president of Branagh Development. Mona managed a complimentary interior design business, Pacific Bay Interiors. Their three children Matt, Mike, Kathleen – as well as her husband Alex Griffith — are all a part of these fourth generation family businesses. In a letter to staff and associates, the family said: “They were a special presence with their compassion, joyfulness and generosity. Our dad and mom surrounded themselves with employees and professionals of the highest quality and integrity. They believed that we are all on earth to serve the Lord, each with their own gifts, and their professional and personal lives reflected that belief.”

The Memorial Service will take place at 1pm on Saturday, July 21, at the Community Presbyterian Church of Danville (222 West El Pintado Road, Danville, CA 94526). There will be a reception following the service.
