    Peta Robyne DeVries, 77, of Sterling, passed away December 21, 2022, peacefully in Gunnison. She was born December 10, 1945, in Brisbane, Australia to Charles Sallee and Iris Freedman. She is survived by her mother, Iris; sister, Pauline; sister-in-law, Noelle; and three children: daughters: Dominique (Travis), Robyne; and son, Anthony (Haylie). She also has 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.    
    She wanted to help others so Peta began nursing at Church College in New Zealand while attending classes before moving to the United States and meeting her husband of 49 years. After a short break from nursing to begin her family, she completed her nursing degree in 1972. 
    She was very passionate and active with bowling and had even participated in the Women’s National Tournament several times. 
    Peta continued to care for others through daycare and nursing in Salt Lake City until 2000 when she and Kurt moved to Sterling after visiting family and falling in love with its small-town charm. She continued giving by becoming a member of the town council for a time and a member of the local Relief Society. She continued her learning with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She began a “Bunco” group shortly after moving to Sterling that still meets monthly, along with being a member of the local Quilt Guild. It's through all this, she developed some of her dearest friends and memories. Her friends were loved and never far from her thoughts. She will never be forgotten by those lives she has touched. 
    She is preceded in death by her father, Charles; husband, Kurt; granddaughter, Arielle; and great-grandson, Chase. 
    Cremation services to be held at the Magleby Mortuary and Cremation Center. Memorial services will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Sterling Town Hall from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please come and write down your memory of her.
