Peggy Morrison Nielson 88, beloved mother, sister, grandma, and aunt, passed away January 14, 2018, at her home at Cove Point in Provo. Peggy was born July 2, 1929 in Monroe to Andrew "Bud" Sorenson & Minnie Louise “Lou” Simonsen Morrison. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up in Monroe and developing a lifelong work ethic working on her father’s farm. She graduated from South Sevier High School in 1947. Peggy worked in the local drugstore and as a telephone operator. Childhood friend Douglas O. Nielson would walk her home after work at the drugstore. She married Doug on May 20, 1949. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple. They became parents to 3 daughters. They lived in Monroe, then Murray, Ogden, Kearns, Price, Bountiful and Orem while Doug worked for the phone company. Then in 1970, Doug became City Manager for Monroe and after building a home Doug moved his family there in 1971.
Peggy always kept a very neat, clean and tidy home. Even when she was visiting her daughter’s homes, she would perform deep cleaning tasks just to pass the time. She welcomed everyone and felt honored when anyone visited. She was a great cook and ever vigilant to see that everyone in her presence was well fed and cared for. It was seldom if ever that she was seen sitting at the table during dinner as she was serving food even to those who indicated that they were done. No one ever left her home without a hug and she was always thanking everyone, even when “Thanks” was not in order.
Peggy was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Relief Society president and counselor, and with her sister Connie as Stake Fellowshipping Missionaries. She loved to go to the temple weekly with a group of friends and looked forward each week to serving.
Peggy is survived by her daughters: Ceri (Bruce) Chapman, Dari Nielson, and Gini (Gary) Adams; her sisters: Mavis Kotter and Connie Rae Parsons; 12 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Doug; parents; sister, Mildred; brothers: Kix (Floy) & Bob (Laura); brothers-in-law: Kent Parsons, Ralph Kotter.
