Paul Reed Christiansen, 80, of Mayfield, passed away December 1, 2012 at home surrounded by family. He was born August 12, 1932 in Mayfield to Reed Smoot and Aleda Michaelsen Christiansen. He married Marcia Jean Taylor, July 17, 1953 in the Manti Temple.
After marrying, Paul, farmed with his father in Mayfield. He attended Snow College and Utah State to obtain a teaching certificate. He taught elementary school in Corinne and Brigham City until 1979, returning to Mayfield to work on the LDS Church farm both in Mayfield and Payson, until 1996. He worked for Mayfield City doing maintenance until he retired. He served one term as mayor of Mayfield.
Paul enjoyed gardening and took pride in his yard and in everything he did.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia, Mayfield; children: Karen (Michael) Allen, Tremonton; Pauline (Jarvis) Sorensen, Gunnison; David (Natalee) Christiansen, Sterling; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Karalyn Hermansen, Gunnison.
Preceded in death by parents; infant daughter, Paula Rae; brothers: John Christiansen and Freddie Lee Christiansen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mayfield Ward Chapel, where friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Mayfield Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
