Patricia Angela Leach

February 24, 1926 — December 1, 2014

Patricia Angela Bautista Leach, 88, passed away December 1, 2014 in Richfield. She was born February 24, 1926 in San Pedro, California to Jose Alejandro and Carman Batris Bautista. She married Jackie Eugene Leach, November 2, 1968 in Mexico. He preceded her in death November 19, 2014.

Pati, as she was known in later years, had a very textured life. She married Frank Perez in 1945 and eventually divorced in the late 1950's. She was a waitress, a taxicab dispatcher, and dabbled in real estate in California. With Jackie, she helped run a bakery here in Richfield in the late 1970's. When her husband, Jackie, received his trucking license she earned one too. In her later years she was content to be with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a mother who taught her children self-reliance and to think for themselves. A major feat in her life was to travel the Al-Can Highway between the U.S. border and Anchorage, Alaska in 1968. That was an accomplishment in itself as it was 1500 miles of unpaved road which she drove with a girlfriend. Toward the end Pati fought hard against the dementia that would eventually help to claim her. She will be missed by family and friends.

Patricia is survived by her children: Barbara (Jim) Shanton, Palm Desert, CA; Frank J Perez (Scott Nemeth) Tucson, AZ; step-daughter, Andrea (Frank) Parkin, Baton Rouge, LA; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jerri Perez Davis; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 in the Magleby Mortuary Richfield Chapel.  Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Saturday after 10:00 a.m.. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
