Klar Robinson
Richfield, Utah
This "old cowboy", Oscar Klar Robinson, rode off into the sunset on November 11, 2013, at his home in Richfield, after living a full life of service, adventure, and hard work for 81 years.
He was born July 23, 1932 in Annabella to Attewall Bunting and Hazel Mae Roberts Robinson. He married Eugenia Bliss, April 11, 1958 in the Manti Temple.
Klar graduated from Richfield High School in 1950 where he participated in basketball and track. He graduated from Brigham Young University, with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management in 1958. He served an LDS mission to New Zealand from 1953-1956. While on his mission he and his companions ran the saw mill and drove the log trucks to build the LDS Temple and church college. He and his wife Genia also served a mission to Nauvoo, Illinois from 2004-2005.
Klar started working in the trucking business known as A. B. Robinson Trucking, with his father and brother, Jack. The trucks ran the mail between Richfield and Salt Lake City daily for ten years. They also hauled for Safeway and Brooklyn creameries and cheese factories from Monroe to Mt. Pleasant.
He ran and managed the Sears Catalog store for 33½ years. While working for Sears he started the Klar Robinson Sweeping and Snow Removal business.
After leaving Sears he bought 70 head of cattle and ran his cows on his Uncle Elton Roberts’ property.
Klar was involved with the Rotary Club. He was affiliated with the Jeep posse. He received his pilot’s licence at age 16 and became a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He went on many search and rescue missions.
He enjoyed spending time at his sanctuary in the mountains, his Fish Lake cabin, riding horses, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed participating and watching sports. He was an avid BYU fan and hardly missed a football or basketball game. He also enjoyed spending time with his family at Lake Powell. He has been active in the LDS Church all his life and served as the branch president or in the presidency for 20 years at the Fish Lake branch held in the historic Fish Lake Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Eugenia "Genia", Richfield; children; Sheri (Mark) Waters, Richfield; Gregory (Shauna) Robinson, Las Vegas; Jeffery (Leisa) Robinson, Annabella; Jana (Jeff) Ockey, South Jordan; Rebecca "Becky" Robinson, Las Vegas; Rochelle (Wayne) Hatch, Glenwood; Brock Robinson, Kearns; 21 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; sister, Leona (Dean) Larson, Spanish Fork; brother, Roland Robinson, Draper; sister-in-law, Creta Robinson, Richfield.
