Ole Leo Maxfield made his last flight on January 9, 2016 at home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born in Lyman, Wayne County, Utah, November 11, 1917, the son of Nathan Grant and Delta Okerlund Maxfield. Married Arlene Nielson, October 21, 1944 in Tucson, Arizona. She preceded him in death September 12, 2012.
Ole graduated from Wayne High School and Snow College. He served as a B-29 pilot and flight instructor in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He worked hard at everything he did including positions with Telluride Power Company and Utah Power & Light Company before retiring in 1983 after 37 years.
Ole is survived by children: Rosemary Maxfield, Newberry, FL; Rodney (Cathy) Maxfield, Lehi, UT; Laurie (Susan) Maxfield, Sandy, UT; 11 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; and sister, LaRee (Clifford) Olsen, Loa, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: LaMar and Nathan; sisters: Erma Chappell, Etta Nelson, LaVee McKinlay and Ann Heaps.
An informal gathering will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016,from 2:00-3:30 p.m. at Magleby Mortuary, 50 South 100 West, Richfield, Utah. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050 and Utah Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
