Norman Larry Golding

Ephraim, Utah

Larry Golding, age 87, of Ephraim, Utah, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Larry was born on July 24, 1937 in Price, Utah to Lawrence Branch and Julia Biddle Golding. On December 27, 1958 He married Mary Schroeder in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. After spending some time in California, they eventually settled in Provo and later made their home in Ephraim. Mary was truly the love of his life. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years and built a beautiful life and family.

A proud native of Price and a graduate of Carbon High School, he grew up on his family ranch, where he learned the value of hard work—a lesson he later passed on to his children. He loved taking his grandchildren back to his roots, sharing stories of his home, his parents, and the mischievous adventures he had with his lifelong friends—Jack, Mack, and Blair.

Larry lived a full and meaningful life guided by his deep faith for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He found great joy in the gospel and in serving others. His many callings included serving in the Bishopric, working with the young men, and a mission to the Navajo Nation where he helped and strengthened so many.

Following BYU sports was one of his lifelong passions. He was known to record the games to watch later—but only if he knew they’d won. He was a dedicated runner, completing many marathons, and also loved fishing, hunting, backpacking, camping, gardening, and of course, John Wayne. Above all, spending time with family brought Larry the greatest joy and pride. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his patience, unconditional love, and sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him; he will be profoundly missed by many.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Mary, and their children: Gary (Merisa) Golding, Carrie Bickerstaff, Jerry (Becca) Golding, Barry (Jeanette) Golding, Terry (Carrie) Golding, Larry (Sara) Golding, Randy (Linda) Golding, and Heather Golding. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, his loving sisters, Lorna (Doug) St. Julien and Judy (Reid) Gale, nieces and nephews, and many extended family members whom he all loved deeply. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Julia, his sister, Janet, and his beautiful daughter, Cheri.

Our family expresses heartfelt thanks to all the friends and neighbors for their kindness and support during this difficult time. Your visits, calls, and comforting words have meant a great deal to our family. A special thank you to the wonderful hospice nurses at Gunnison Valley Hospital.
