Norma Burrows

Richfield, UT

Norma Gale Schow Burrows passed away at her home on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Norma was born August 17, 1931 to goodly parents Ira Thomas Schow and Christina Cooper in Panguitch, Utah.

Norma had a wonderful growing up. She loved to sew, embroider, and crochet. She loved music, dancing-- especially the weekly dances at the old social hall-- and had many friends whom she loved. Her favorite times of each year were the Deer Hunters’ Ball and the 49ers Ball. Norma especially loved Christmas; it was a magical season with dances every night, and socializing at friends’ houses eating peanut butter fudge and divinity.

Norma graduated from Panguitch High School in 1949. She attended Utah State University, and when she returned home, she worked at the Garfield County Courthouse. Norma met her future husband, Reid, while he was working in Panguitch. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in December 1954.

Norma loved the Lord’s unconditional love demonstrated in the four seasons. She saw the beauty in spring, summer, fall and winter, and always looked forward to each one every year. Norma was dedicated to her three sons, whom she loved dearly. She lived in Salt Lake for several years and then moved to Richfield, Utah, where she found many wonderful new friends. The old Fifth Ward was a great joy for her and her family. She worked several jobs in Richfield, and one was with the State Recovery Services. An avid shopper, Norma was one of Christensen’s best customers for years. Norma’s home was place of peace. She loved to clean, wash, and iron, and just enjoyed being there.

Norma was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding jobs in Young Women, Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society. The one assignment that was very special to Norma was that of an Ordinance Worker in the Manti Temple for four-and-a-half years. There, she met many special people and had several neat experiences. Norma had several adversities which limited her activities for the last two-and-a-half years of her life.

She is survived by her husband Reid; children David (Annette), Tom (Debbie), and Bryan (Laurie); brother James (Cleone) Schow; ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Grant and Kyle; sisters Vida and Mary; grandson Bohen Lewis Burrows; and great-granddaughter Hailey Gale Stagg.

A public viewing will be held at Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, Utah on Friday, 8 September 2017 from 6 to 8 pm. Norma requested a private family service, which will be held on Saturday, 9 September 2017. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
