Myron A Madsen, 91, passed away April 8, 2011 in Richfield. He was born May 15, 1919 in Boneta, Utah to Alphonzo Barton and Emily Manila Erickson Madsen. He married Ruth Case August 6, 1939 in Boneta. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple March 29, 1951. They have been married 71 years.
Myron was a WWII veteran. He served as a city councilman, was mayor of Monroe City for two terms, president of the Brooklyn Canal Company. Served also as president of the Sevier School District Board of Education and the Sevier Valley Tech Board. He was a sealer in the Manti Temple, and along with his wife served as ordinance workers for nine years. They served an LDS mission to Jackson Mississippi. He served in a ward bishopric and as a stake high councilman.
Myron was a farmer, rancher, a potato broker, and worked for the Department of Agriculture.
Survived by wife, Ruth of Monroe; children: Elaine (DeVon) Nelson, Fremont; Floyd Alphonzo (Sue) Madsen, Salem; Myrna (Everitt) Thomson, Nephi; Maxine (Bardett) Durfee, Monroe; Tamra (Kenneth) Madsen, Payson; 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Melva Allred, Altamont; Ralph (Carolyn) Madsen, Duchesne; Judy Frandsen, Talmage.
Preceded in death by parents; grandsons, David Durfee and Curt Madsen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Monroe 1 st Ward, 50 East 200 North. Friends may call at the church in Monroe Thursday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe Cemetery with military rites by the Monroe American Legion Post #37. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
