Myrna Roberts
Monroe, Utah
On January 13th 2025, Myrna Roberts left her imperfect earthly body and returned home to her heavenly father. She was surrounded by the loving embrace of her family. She was born August 4th, 1943, to Vendal LeVoy, and Golda Lapreal Sorensen in Richfield UT, as the second oldest of 4 siblings.
Myrna proudly attended Richfield High School and prided herself on singing and teaching the RHS fight song to her kids, her grandkids, and all others who were interested. Myrna met the love of her life Larry Roberts, when she was just 14 years old. Later, after her RHS graduation, they were married on June 16th, 1961, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to Salt Lake City to start their lives together where they welcomed three wonderful children, Kelly Roberts (Wendy), Tamara Baer (Merrill), and Pauline Gold (Joel). Together they have 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
After Larry completed a career in Salt Lake, they moved back to Sevier County where they bought their home on Washburnville Road. The Roberts family enjoyed spending vacations together. Kimberly Mountain will always hold such great memories. Myrna had a heart that overflowed with passion for life and the people in her life. Myrna loved hunting, fishing, and camping. When it came time for the bow hunt she was always prepared and had everything ready to go. She might even have reeled a fish in with a baby on her hip. Myrna was also known to yell “We are having beefaroni! It’s made with macaroni!” Whether it was banging pots and pans together to create a lively moment or whipping up some beefaroni, she reminded us to embrace life with humor and confidence. Her family remembers her fun and teasing personality: She would hide your keys if they were not in the right place, or the place she thought they should be. Also, she loved afternoons of hula hooping in the aisle at the store and laughing together. She was always the champ.
Myrna loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, and most recently being Grandma Tweetie to her great-grandchildren. The kids will always remember popsicles on the porch, games in the trailer and of course, dancing to Elvis Presley. Myrna was a huge fan of the King.
Myrna held many callings in the church: teaching, taking care of others, and making new friends. Her favorite calling was being the wife for 64 years to her true hero Larry. They handled life together no matter what came up. Larry made a promise all those years ago to Myrna’s parents to take care of her, and he has fulfilled that promise every single day.
As we remember her, we will hold close the lessons she taught us: to find joy in the simple things, to embrace adventure, and to love fiercely and unconditionally.
Myrna is preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren Natalie and Nathan, and a great-grandson Elijah James. A new grandson is expected in the next few weeks so maybe just maybe they will meet between now and then.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the Monroe City Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of her life on Monday, January 20 at 5:00 pm at the Monroe Senior Citizen Center at 152 West 100 South, Monroe.
