Montez Gleave Millett passed away peacefully in her home in Kingston, Utah on May 25, 2020. She was born November 17, 1943 to Otto Wellington and Varis Louise Sorensen Gleave. She was the oldest of three daughters, and was raised in Monroe, Utah, where she enjoyed helping her father on their family farm. She drove tractors and trucks, rode horses, scattered potato sacks, weeded and cared for animals. She loved her parents and her sisters very much, and she said often that she had an ideal childhood. She developed a great love of nature and the beauty of the outdoors. She was a natural artist and painted beautiful landscapes of the national parks of Utah while attending South Sevier High School. She was voted "Most Optimistic" in her class and was offered a scholarship to an art school in New York upon graduation in 1962.

She married Erol "Roger" Millett, from Kingston, on August 15, 1962 in Monroe, Utah. They honeymooned in Seattle, Washington, where they attended the World Fair and witnessed the spectacle of the newly-constructed Space Needle, while on their way to live in Anchorage, Alaska, where Roger had been stationed in the United States Army. Later, they moved back to Utah and spent several years living in various towns and cities in Utah following Roger’s employment where he made a living helping to construct the interstates and freeways of that era. They made their final home in Kingston in the early 1970’s. Roger and Montez’s marriage was solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple and their children were sealed to them.

Montez was an avid gardener who raised plants from seed in her greenhouse every year before transplanting them into her garden. Her yard was beautifully landscaped with flowers and vegetables. She spent every fall preserving the food she had grown with the help of her family. She also sold her tomatoes to the local grocery store on occasion. She had a few small jobs outside the home, but spent most of her years as a homemaker. She served as the judge of elections many years in Kingston and also served on the town board. She was thrifty and taught her children how to live within their means through her example. She loved her husband and made many sacrifices to her children and showed her love to them through her time, counsel and care. She loved to make people laugh. Montez had a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and held several callings in Relief Society and Primary presidencies, and served many times as a Primary teacher. She loved visiting teaching. For many years she would bake Christmas gifts for the widows in her small town and deliver them with a nice visit from her and her children.

She is survived by her husband, Roger, Kingston; children: Michelle M. (David) Noriega, Houston, TX; Mitzi A. Millett, Kingston; Brett R. (Stephanie) Millett, Cedar City; and Shawn G. (Lexie) Millett, Nephi; grandchildren: Alan Noriega, Brian Noriega, Cameron Noriega, Shaylee Millett, Reagan Millett, Aidan Millett, Jayden Millett, Orrin Millett, and Avery Millett; and her sister; Tereece DeGraff, Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister Mavanee Loftus.

A private family viewing will be held at Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, Utah on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 12:00 Noon in the Junction Utah Cemetery.
