Milton LaVon James, 80, of Bayfield, passed away January 29, 2015 at home in the arms of family and after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born January 4, 1935 in Fayette, the son of Windom Erval and Thelma Hammond James. He married Colleen Mason on June 7, 1957 and later sealed in the Boise, Idaho Temple.They had two sons, Gary Von (Connie) James and Dennis Mark (June) James.

Milton worked at Power Line Construction and on ranches in Utah, Idaho and Montana. His favorite job was as a hunting guide in the Wilderness area of Idaho, where he spent several seasons.
He retired in 1996 and settled in Challis, ID., where he and Colleen spent several years doing volunteer work. Later moving to Colorado, where they settled in the small town of Bayfield.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen; two sons and 8 grandchildren: Dustin (Lori) James, Mitch (Kari) James, Mickinly (Mark) Hulme, Andy (Kristina) James, Anthony (Maira) James, Meagan (Hopper) Becker, Travis (Shannon) James and Tyler James; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters; Wayne (Nancy) James, Thomas (Sue) James, Dell James, Dick James, Norma (Jerry) Christensen, Frances (Bob) Boston and Sheron (Blake) Holm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Christie Sudweeks and Margaret James and brother, Jay James; grandsons: Ethan, Joseph and Ian James; two great-granddaughters; Benelli and Emma Hulme.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Hospice of Mercy Medical Center, 1010 Three Springs Blvd., Durango, CO 81301; they have been such a great help to Milton and his family in the last few weeks.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fayette Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Fayette Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
