Milda Quilter
Gunnison, Utah
Milda Mary Riggs Quilter, 92, of Gunnison, passed away peacefully in the home of her daughter, Kathleen, in Elwood, surrounded by family on February 5, 2013. She was born on June 22, 1920 to William R. Jr. and Muriel Snow Riggs. She married Gerald Quilter, the love of her life, on June 22, 1940 in the Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He preceded her in death May 20, 1985.
Milda lived a long and full life. Their home was filled with love and laughter, and children were always welcome. When her husband passed away her heart was broken. Her long wait is over and a joyful reunion has taken place as they walk hand in hand again.
Milda was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to cook and feed a crowd. No matter what time a person came to her home, they would find a hot meal and delicious desserts. She was always happiest when she was serving and making people happy. She delighted in being a wife and mother, and made every child and grandchild feel like they were her favorite. She enjoyed serving in all of the auxiliaries of the church, but her heart was always in Primary with the children.
She is survived by son, Lynn (Charlotte) Quilter; daughters, Kathleen (Thomas) Shimek; Becky (Brent) Young; 16 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Darrell) Westover.
She was also preceded in death by her son Glade (Karen), sisters Maureen, Elma, Aldyth, and a brother, Reeves. She also had a brother and sister who died in infancy.
