Michael Oran Thursby, 54, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at his home in Ephraim. Mike was born on September 28, 1960 in Mt. Pleasant, UT to Kent Oran and Marjorie Irene Nelson Thursby.

Mike was raised in Ephraim where he graduated from Manti High School. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings. Mike served a church mission in the Philippines. On May 14, 1982 Mike married his sweetheart, Denise Hayes, in the Salt Lake Temple. Mike’s family was the love of his life.

Mike worked at both Skyline and Sufco Mines where he made many friends. He worked hard but served others even harder. He was a man who served his family, friends and anyone else in need.

Through Mike’s battle with cancer he never lost his smile and endured well. Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mike is survived by his wife, Denise; children, Brandy (Talen) Nielsen, Salina; Tyson (Tiffani) Thursby and Kara (Brandon) Butcher both of Ephraim; grandchildren, Payton, Jaycee, Trazr, Kellin, McKaela, Harlee; siblings, Kerry (Mike) Tyhurst and Kathy (Bart) Roberts both of Ephraim. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Thursby.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ephraim 1 ^st & 2 ^nd Ward Chapel, 420 North 200 West. Friends may call on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the church from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and also prior to services on Friday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Ephraim Park Cemetery.
