Marvin Hansen

Marvin D. Hansen was born December 18, 1930, in Elsinore. He was the second son and second child of Omery John and Anna Marie Hansen. He died September 19, 2023, in Cedar City of causes incident to old age.
Marvin served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Carma Payne of Richfield in November 1955 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised three children: David, ReNae, and Douglas.
Marvin worked as a heavy equipment operator on the Fish Lake National Forest for 35 years before retiring. He worked on roads and range improvement projects all over the Fish Lake National Forest. After retirement, Marvin began restoring and collecting antique John Deere tractors along with his brothers. He often entered his tractors in parades and shows. Marvin enjoyed hunting and camping in the mountains above Elsinore and Joseph. Marvin lived in the Richfield and South Sevier area nearly all his life.
He is survived by his children: David W. (Ruth) Hansen, Riverton; ReNae (Jim) Breedon. Edinburg, TX; and Douglas M. (Patricia) Hansen, Cedar City; along with 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers: James V. (Carol) Hansen and Forrest C. (Kaylyn) Hansen, both of Elsinore; and Sterling (Phyllis) Hansen, Richfield; sisters: Ruth (Ronald) Shaw, Aurora; LaJeanne (Rex) Rowley, Fillmore; Virginia (Gerald) Williams, Yuma, AZ; LaNeeta (Donald) Sudweeks, Annabella; sisters-in-law: Kaye (Havolyn) Hansen, Elsinore, and Lori (Rodney) Hansen, Payson, and Evelyn Payne of Sandy; brothers-in-law: Dr. Ronald (Mary) Payne, South Jordan; Allen (Jeanette) Payne, Sandy; and Roger (Camille) Payne, Bennion.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Carma; parents; brothers: O.J., Havolyn, Conrad, Rodney; and sister, Darlene; brothers-in-law: Calvin Payne and Ronald Shaw; and sisters-in-law: Blanche Hansen, Pearl Payne and Mary Payne.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Stonehenge of Cedar City for the friendly and considerate manner in which they have taken care of Marvin.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. in the Elsinore Cemetery with military honors by the Elsinore American Legion and Hill Air Force Honor Guard.
