Melinda Poulson
Richfield, Utah
Melinda Brewer Hutchings Poulson, 68, passed away May 2, 2019 at her home in Richfield, Utah from natural causes. Melinda was born January 30, 1951 to Willard and Magdalena DeJong Brewer in Santa Monica, California.
Melinda grew up in Richfield. She met and married Russell Hutchings. They moved to Beaver and had 4 children together. Later divorced. She married A Jay Poulson in December 1995.
Melinda worked at various grocery stores as a cashier over 40 years where she was always ready to have a friendly conversation or make a new friend. She had a great ability to remember names and facts; she knew everyone who came through her grocery line and their family relationships. She was a hard worker, devoted to her job and career—working even on the day she died. She has seen the evolution of grocery shopping—going from price tags on individual items to bar codes and now online shopping. She had a keen fix on the price of individual items and in the comfort of her own living room won millions on the Price Is Right!
She loved chocolate and any treat anyone brought by—Melinda definitely had a sweet tooth! She loved the sun and hanging out at the pool and never missed a trip to Mesquite. She never passed up decorating for holidays. She had a heart of gold and more than willing to help those in need. She took pride in everything she did.
Melinda loved to be a part of her grandchildren’s events. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or special occasion. She would give a card or always have a special treat for whoever stopped by.
She is survived by her husband, A Jay; children: Dillan (Jessica) Hutchings, Richfield; Weston (Tanya) Hutchings, Monroe; Michelle (Troy) Christensen, Richfield; Cory (Jennifer) Hutchings, Central Valley; 18 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson with another boy expected in July; mother, Magdalena Barney, Kearns; siblings: Ward (Julie) Brewer, West Jordan; Marlene (Dan) Majoros, CA; A Jay’s children: Robert Poulson, Teresa (Donnie) Risher, Rick (Karen) Poulson, Trina (Robb) Thomas, Traci (Dale) Egbert, Terri (Blaine) Chynoweth.
Preceded in death by her father, Willard Brewer; step-father, Don Barney; sisters, Mary Bodtcher, Margaret Sanchez; brother, Willie Brewer.
