Maxine Barney Jensen, 90, passed away June 18, 2018 in Gunnison. She was born November 9, 1927 in Centerfield to Orvil and Hannah Othellia Follett Barney. She married Royal Jensen December 23, 1944 in Centerfield. When she was just 13, both of her parents died and she was raised by her sister Charlotte. The marriage was solemnized February 15, 1958 in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death January 14, 2014.

As a young girl she worked in the sugar beet fields and washing celery and cabbage. She started helping clean the school. She did a great job and that led her to being a school lunch worker. She retired from the school district, winning an award for the cleanest school in the state.

Maxine was an active member of the LDS Church. She taught Primary and was a visiting teacher. She kept a journal every single day of her life.

Being outside enjoying her flowers was something Maxine loved. She really enjoyed painting, her yard ornaments and fence. She loved animals, especially her cats and her little dog.

She is survived by her children: Rolland Jensen, Fred (Mary) Jensen, Reed (Lori) Jensen and Michelle Jensen; daughter-in-law, Tammie Jensen; 22 grandchildren 54 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister Rosie (Elmo) Anderson.

Also preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin Jensen; siblings: Charlotte (Clarence) Peterson, Max (Joan) Barney, Gale (Faye) Barney, Virgil (Lily) Barney

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Centerfield 1st Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel Friday night from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Centerfield Cemetery.
