Max LaVone Coburn, 77, passed away June 28, 2018 at his home in Marysvale. He was born June 20, 1941 in Richfield to Leon Joseph and Marjorie DeWitt Coburn. He married Sandra Ann Hubbard September 3, 1960.

Max retired from the U.S. Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Office after 20 years of service. He served three tours of duty in Viet Nam, two on the U.S.S. Oriskany and one on the U.S.S. Repose. He also served as the medic for a Marine attack helicopter unit stationed at Ream Field in San Diego, CA. While stationed at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Pensacola, FL, he was honored as Sailor of the Year. After retiring from the military, Max taught at Bibb County Jr. High School in Centreville, AL for 20 years. Upon retiring from teaching, Max lived in Alabama eight months out of the year and in Marysvale, Utah four months each year.

Max was a member of Brent Presbyterian Church in Brent, AL and was blessed to have a second church family at Marysvale Baptist Church in Marysvale.

Max was married 58 years and was a very proud father of two sons and a daughter, and even more excited about being a grandfather of four and a great-grandfather of one.
