Maurine Anderson Jensen, 90, of Richfield passed away peacefully January 14, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family and returned to our Heavenly Father, her parents and siblings. She was born at home in Centerfield, Utah, March 2, 1927 to Alva Erastus and Hannah Anderson. She graduated from Gunnison High School. When World War II ended, she met her sweetheart Michael "Dale" Jensen from Mayfield at a dance. They were married in Centerfield, March 29, 1948, solemnized September 28, 1957 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were happily married nearly 70 years.
Maurine was a devoted wife and mother and found joy in serving. She always put others before herself and cherished the simple things in life. She is survived by her husband Dale, their children: Sherolyn (Eric) Langston, Patsy (Stephen) Daniels, Pauline (Terry) Barney, Marsha (Kyle) Meacham, all Richfield; Gloria (Lon) Wickel, Nephi; and Michael (Suzette) Jensen, Heber City. She leaves a legacy with her 6 children, 34 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Maurine loved music and dancing. As a young adult, she taught herself to play on a pump organ with only 1 lesson. She was employed at the parachute plant in Manti during WW II and also worked picking fruit and thinning beets. She led a life of service to family, friends, church and community. She enjoyed her involvement and service in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers where she made many friends and loved learning about her ancestors. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served as Relief Society president, Primary president/teacher, visiting teacher/supervisor, stake dance director, compassionate service leader and Scout leader. She was a 4-H leader for years teaching her daughters and their friends. Her perfectionism was displayed in everything she did. She spent many hours making quilts, sewing dresses, doll clothes, formals and bridal gowns for her 5 daughters. That slowed down a bit when their sixth child was a boy.
An excellent cook, Maurine could whip up a delicious meal in minutes, with practically nothing, if unexpected company dropped by. Her claim to fame included grated cheese sandwiches with olives, puffed rice balls, Mother Goose Popcorn, animal sugar cookies, meats and gravies, baking powder biscuits, carrot Jell-o salad, creamed carrots, lemon meringue pie, and Dad’s favorite, apple pie with cheese.
Upon Dale’s retirement, Maurine became his second hand on the farm. She truly loved spending time with him. Their companionship and kindness toward each other will always be a shining example of eternal love.
Preceded in death by parents, Alva Erastus and Hannah Jensen Anderson; and all siblings: Eland (Alpha) Anderson, Leland (Zelda) Anderson, Wells (Grace) Anderson, LaRue (Rellis) Sorensen, Mavis (Clifford) Axtell, and Lester (Karen) Anderson.
