Maurice Curtis
Monroe, Utah
Maurice N. Curtis, “MA” our loving father, grandpa, friend, and hero returned to his Heavenly Father on January 17, 2022, at the age of 69, at his home in Monroe. He was born on March 26, 1952, in Salina, Utah. He grew up in Austin with his grandparents, Raymond and Etta Bay Nielson. He graduated from South Sevier High School where he made lots of friends and made lots of memories. He entered the Service in July of 1969, and was sent to Vietnam in July 1970, where he was acting crew chief and a helicopter gunner. He was a very decorated soldier earning many medals, including 2 purple hearts, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was released from active duty on August 17, 1972; he spent many months recovering from his wounds in Colorado.
He later moved back home to Austin, where he loved to hunt, search for arrowheads and spent great times with friends—some of the greatest friends a man could have, many of them stood by him till then end.
He married Cathy Ann Jorgensen, later divorced, and they had two daughters, Marci and Amber. He loved his girls deeply. He took us on many adventures, he taught us how to hunt, fish, kneeboard, and have a love for the outdoors.
The grandkids came along, and they were the light of his life. He was always taking them out on adventures, teaching them how to drive a stick shift was very important to him. He took them on many hunting trips, helped them site in their guns, fixed their cars, and took them on lots of dirt road adventures. He loved each one of them and enjoyed every minute he was able to spend with them.
Maurice lived life to the fullest. He was always up for an adventure. He was a hero, a fighter, and loved his kids, grandkids, and friends more than anything. We love you Dad—thanks for the adventures. It’s been a wild ride.
Survived by his children: Marci (Matthew) Gayler, Monroe; Amber Curtis, Richfield; 6 grandchildren; siblings: Leland Curtis, Danny Curtis, Robert Curtis, Sherri Stockton, Shawna Martin.
