Irene Gray

Mary Irene Parker Gray, 94, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Monroe. She was born March 9, 1922 in Joseph to Alma Virgil and Anna Farnsworth Parker. She graduated from South Sevier High School in 1940, after which she attended the Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City for two years.
She moved to Salt Lake City where she was employed for Eitel-McCullogh as a radio tube final inspector for two years during World War II. After the war Irene returned to Joseph where she taught 3rd and 4th grades for one year.
Irene married Mack Hunt in 1945, later divorced. She married Billy D. Gray, November 7, 1947 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was solemnized, February 21, 1976 in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death, January 11, 2016.
For 13 years Irene was employed at Christensen’s Department Store in the fabric department where she made many friends. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and especially reading. She was a member of the LDS Church. She held numerous positions throughout the years. After retirement, Irene and Bill bought a motor home and toured the United States and Canada.
Irene is survived by her children: Greg (Lori) Hunt, Pittsford, NY; Marianne (Dan) Hunter, Huntington; Barbara (Darvin) White, Richfield; 9 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Virgil J. Parker.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard (Dorothy) Gray; sister, Ruth Kemp; and brother, Robert F. Parker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Central Valley 1st Ward Chapel, 65 North Main, where friends may call from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
