Mary Jorgensen

Ephraim, Utah

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Amelia Christensen Francks Jorgensen, passed away on June 30, 2015 at her home in Ephraim, Utah at the age of 80. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Mary was born May 6, 1935 to Fredrick Rodney and Amy Lizella Christensen at the same family home in Ephraim where she passed away.

Mary grew up in a family with much joy and happiness and plenty of fun. She was the youngest of 5 children. She married her high school sweetheart, Valden J. Francks on May 27, 1953. He preceded her in death. She later married Vernon C. Jorgensen and moved to Centerville. With her marriage to Vern she became the step-mother to Vern’s two beautiful daughters, Julie and Jeri. She lived there until she retired from her position as a bank accounts assistant and moved back to her family home in Ephraim. She and Vern spent many happy years together. He preceded her in death.

Mary lived life to the fullest and gave 110% to all she did. She loved to camp, ride horses, ski and travel. In her later years she was able to travel to many parts of the world with her children and siblings. Mary was an avid seamstress. She started sewing on her mother’s treadle sewing machine at the age of 6 and later became a master seamstress. She sewed clothing, wedding dresses, formals and many quilts.

Family was a top priority for Mary. She loved and nurtured each child, grandchild and great-grandchild and valued the time she was able to spend with them. Her parents, siblings and childhood friends were an important part of her life.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary, Relief Society and Young Women organizations. Everyone who met Mary felt her vivacious, positive spirit and left feeling uplifted. Her smile and bright, sparkling eyes made her a joy to be with.

She is survived by her children: Freddie Ann (Ronald M.) Stevenson and Richard J. Francks; step-children: Julie (Steve) Bowles and Jeri (Fernando) Marticorena; 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son, John Eric Francks; parents and siblings: Zella Rae Barton, Una Gwen Christensen, Richard R Christensen, J. Gordon Christensen and Freddie Christensen.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Gunnison Hospice, especially Leslie & Deloris. Your loving care of Mary was greatly apprecitaed.
