Marva Olsen

A quiet peace and tender sadness surround her family as we say goodbye to Marva Ann Hansen Olsen, 92, a remarkable woman. Our beautiful mother, mother in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to many, passed away quietly at the home of her daughter Marcia Christensen in West Valley City on April 17, 2012. We rejoice with her in completing her earthly mission to return to be with her Heavenly Father with honor.
Marva was born December 30, 1919 in Redmond to Annie Margaret Watts and Delbert Peter Hansen. She spent her childhood in Redmond where, after a time, she went to live with her beloved grandmother Ana Marie Christensen. She graduated from North Sevier High School 1936. She married Sherman Anderson, January 10, 1938. Sherman died unexpectedly while she was pregnant with her fifth child in 1946. She married Jay Grant Olsen December 17, 1949 later divorced, they had two children.
She had many jobs in her lifetime some of them were working at the Salina Turkey Processing Plant, Midway Diesel Trucking Company, and Premium Oil until her retirement at the age of 78. She held as many as three jobs at a time. She was known for her hard work. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children. She was always there for her family without question. She was a member of the LDS Church and held various positions in the Church.
Marva is survived by four children: Marcia Kay Christensen, West Valley City; Judy Kathleen Anderson, Salina; Ricky Jay (Merlene) Olsen, South Jordan; and T’Resa Crawford, Annabella; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, brothers LaVor T. Hansen, Alvin Hansen, sister Nelda Peterson, and children Shirley Marie Anderson, Sondra Ann Anderson, and Sherman Jerry Anderson.
The family would like to thank the hospice care givers for the wonderful care she was given during the last few months of her life.
A special thanks is given to Marcia for the loving care she gave Mom for the last three and a half years.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Salina 4th Ward, 98 West 400 North, where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
