Mark Magleby
Orem, Utah
Mark Stephen Magleby -- our father, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Memorial Day, May 29, 2017 in a drowning accident at Havasupai, Arizona. Everyone who ever knew Mark will miss his hugs, smirk, witty humor, always caring but sometimes sarcastic personality, and adventurous love of the outdoors. Through Mark’s eyes we all can more fully appreciate this world we live in, especially Utah – Mark’s #cutah.
Mark, son of Paul and Cathy Magleby, was born January 7, 1981 in Provo, Utah. He was the youngest of four sons, his older brothers are Matthew, Scott, and Chad. Mark lived in Orem, Utah most of his life. He graduated from Mountain View High School and later from Utah Valley University. Mark was an Eagle Scout and he served a faithful LDS mission to Puerto Rico. After his mission, Mark worked for the Anasazi and Walkabout Wilderness Programs. He later became a realtor and then returned to his first love -- photography.
Mark was a talented photographer who loved taking pictures of his beloved Utah. Any who knew and associated with Mark, or followed his passion of photography through social media, were certain to have their day and cares lightened with some witty or sarcastic comment that would strike a note of truth and reality.
Mark was the father of two beautiful daughters – Madelyn and Josie While Mark was passionate about many things in life, there's one thing that stands above the rest - his passion for his daughters. To quote one of Mark's close friends: Josie and Madelyn were his jewels and he lived or died for his "Gals". He fathered, provided, and drew great strength from them.
Mark will be greatly missed by his many friends. One friend and blogger said, "Everyone wanted to be in the presence of Mark Magleby."
Mark loved: Josie and Madelyn, adventures, music, family, hiking, biking, friends, yoga, photography, outdoor concerts, making people laugh, Mt Timpanogos, growing heritage tomatoes, Everett Ruess, lending a helping hand, kayaking, camping, the Southwest, and living each moment to the fullest.
Mark is survived by his daughters: Madelyn and Josephine; his parents: Paul and Cathy Magleby; his three brothers: Matt (Pierrette), Scott (Amy), and Chad (Crystal); grandmother: Verna Martin; nieces and nephews: Ellie, Ethan, Marek, Aria, Olivia, Nathan, Chase, Camaron, Callie, and Carter; extended family, and many close friends.
