Marilyn P. White
Richfield
Marilyn Poulson White, 92, died peacefully on the morning of January 8, 2018 at her home in Richfield, Utah, the same home where she was born almost 93 years ago to Wallace Eugene Poulson and Estella Payne. Marilyn was raised in a large family with loving parents. She attended schools in Richfield and studied at Brigham Young University for one year.
Marilyn met Paul Hampton White in her home on Center Street the summer between her junior and senior year of high school. They dated and fell in love that summer in Washington DC. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple, June 27, 1945 and shortly thereafter made their home in Richfield. She and Paul are the parents of six children–three girls and then three boys, 30 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Marilyn considered her posterity to be her greatest possession.
Marilyn was a woman with great faith in Jesus Christ. She served in numerous church callings. Marilyn and Paul in their retirement years served five full-time missions: Cleveland, Ohio; Manila Philippines Temple; John Johnson Farm Visitors Center; Toronto Canada Temple; and Columbia South Carolina. In the last year of her life when she was bedridden and could not move, her positive attitude continued to express her faith and love for the Savior and affected all who came in contact with her, especially her family and care givers.
Her children and their spouses are: Susan (Glenn) Merrell, Richfield; Elaine (Robert) Folsom, Gilbert AZ; Diane (Greg) Winfield, Virginia Beach, VA; Richard (Janet) White, Orem; Russell (GayLyn) White, Tremonton; and Ronald (Helen) White, Mesa, AZ.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Diane; son-in-law, Glenn; brother, Stanford Poulson; and six sisters, Lorna Bodily, Enid Peterson, Gwen Lloyd, Phyllis Thomson, Ferol Wilkinson and Joyce Poulson.
