Marilyn Davis

Venice, Utah

The sweet spirit of Marilyn Elaine Salisbury Davis passed on from this life though the veil to heaven on the afternoon of August 6, 2017 in Richfield. Marilyn was born on November 7, 1929 in the Hollywood hospital, Los Angeles County, California to Joseph Durrell and Nellie Peterson Salisbury. Marilyn’s parents blessed her with a sister five years later, naming her Karen.

The family eventually moved from California back to Richfield where they lived and grew up. Marilyn went to most of elementary school, junior high and high school in Richfield, graduating from RHS on May 24, 1948. She then went to the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.

Marilyn met the love of her life, James Farrel Davis, and they were married on September 8, 1950 in the Manti Utah LDS Temple for time and all eternity. She writes in her life story, "It was meant to be," and "the rest is history." They have celebrated 67 years of marriage together.

Marilyn and Farrel had 5 wonderful children throughout the years, starting with the oldest, a son, Michael James; then came 4 daughters: Debra Ann, Rebecca, Elaine, and Jody Lyn.

Marilyn had a love for life. She enjoyed art, the piano, quilting, crocheting, baking and canning food from their garden every year. She was called to various positions in the Venice Ward throughout the years, including chorister, nursery leader, counselor in the Relief Society, Primary leader and she was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She held jobs as a teller at the Richfield Commercial and Savings Bank and as a secretary at the ASCS Office and then the Federal Land Bank in Richfield. Marilyn and Farrel enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and traveling in their 5th wheel trailer. They served a church mission at Cove Fort and as directors for the stake, and then regional, cannery in Sigurd.

Marilyn’s love for her family is greater than life itself. She touched the hearts of everyone she knew. She loved like God and her smile and laugh would brighten anyone’s day.

Marilyn is survived by her husband; children: Michael (LaVonne) Davis, Venice; Debra (Randy) Brunson, Fillmore; Rebecca (Joe) Carroll, St. George; Elaine King, Glenwood; Jody Julander, Marysvale. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Perry King; sister, Karen Sorensen

The family thanks the Richfield Care Center nurses and staff for their loving care of Marilyn.
