Marie Foutz

September 7, 1929 – October 16, 2019

Ruth Marie Marshall Foutz, 90, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2019 at Stonehenge in Richfield, Utah. She was born September 7, 1929, in Farmington, New Mexico, to William Ray and Ruth Alice Torbit Marshall. She graduated from Farmington High School and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Marie married E J "Jay" Foutz in Farmington, on September 5, 1948, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a great example of loving and helping others. Her smile could light up a room. She put her heart and soul into experiencing life and would share her enthusiasm about the things she learned with family and friends. The word "bored" was not in her vocabulary. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, and crafts. Marie cherished the many years that she and Jay and their children lived in Beclahbeto, New Mexico and in Teec Nos Pos, Arizona. Marie volunteered at Aztec Ruins and enjoyed studying archeology. She worked in the Genealogy Library at the Church for many years. Music was in her life every day. Marie enjoyed books. She was a proud member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). She loved chocolate and cotton candy. Her household experienced everything from cake decorating to hatching chickens in an incubator. What an amazing journey it has been with our beautiful wife, mother and grandmother!

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruth Marshall; her loving husband, Jay Foutz; her son, Devin Foutz; her sister, Anne Marshall; and great-grandson, Jarin Hansen.

Marie is survived by her children: Garry Foutz, Brent (Becky) Foutz, Pam (Jack) Hansen, Jean (John) Marshall, Jaynette Foutz, Raquelle Foutz; her sister, Marilu (Jim) Waybourn; and 13 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at Stonehenge of Richfield for their kind and compassionate care of our mother these past 4½ years. Our love for all of you is enormous.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1310 East 25th St., in Farmington, New Mexico. Visitation will be before the service from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Farmington.

Marie is in the care of Magleby Mortuary, 50 South 100 West in Richfield, Utah. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at www.maglebymortuary.com
