Margaret Cox Voorhees, 91, of Manti, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2014 in Ephraim, UT.

Margaret was born in Manti, UT on April 18, 1923, the youngest child of Roy Wilbur and Maud Goldie Brown Cox. She attended Manti Elementary, Manti High School and Snow College. She married Stanley Reid Voorhees on January 18, 1947 in Nevada. He preceded her in death on August 20, 2004. Margaret was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she enjoyed her calling in the primary. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Margaret worked as a record keeping assistant to the Public Health Nurse, as a secretary for Manti Elementary and also as the Deputy Assessor for Sanpete County. Wanting to remain active, she worked at Terry and Yvonne’s convenience store in Sterling where she continued to enjoy her association with new and old friends alike.

Margaret enjoyed working in her yard, grooming her many flowers, cooking, canning fruits, sewing and making quilts for her grandchildren. She was devoted to her family in every way, they were the love of her life. Her grandchildren affectionately called her "Grandma Hees".

Margaret is survived by her children, Yvonne (Terry Lee) Larsen, Sterling; Eloise (Eric C) Christensen, Ephraim; Kathryn (Gerald S) Zabriskie, Mt Pleasant; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; parents; brother, Wilbur Wallace Cox; sister, Catherine C Sidwell and nephew, Thurman S Larsen.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Gunnison Valley Home Care and Hospice, Leslie Johnson and Delores Spencer. Also a thanks to the staff and residents of Golden Skyline Assisted Living for the love, compassion and concern that was shown to our beloved mother.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manti Stake Center, 555 East Union. Friends and family may call at the church on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and also prior to services on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery.
