Margaret Keller

Manti, Utah

Margaret Nielson Peterson Keller, 93, of Manti, passed away November 2, 2016 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born October, 21, 1923, into a large and loving family in Manti, Utah, the daughter of John Rudolph and Alice Johnson Nielson. They didn’t have a lot in temporal things, but had a full and fun filled life, centered on family. As a family, they enjoyed the outdoors, especially the mountains. There she learned to hunt, fish and really love the Nielson family cabin in the North Fork of the Manti Canyon. This great love of the outdoors has been passed on to her children and grandchildren.

When Margaret was 20, not ever having traveled more than 25 miles from her home in Manti, she and her mother boarded a train to Dallas, Texas, so she could marry her sweetheart, Albert Peterson, a pilot in the Army Air Corps. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death, June 7, 1988.

Margaret raised six children who loved and honored her. She had many interests and excelled in all of them: ice skating, hunting (she was a much better shot than all her brothers), gardening, bowling, sewing, singing, Girl’s Camp, Boy & Cub Scouts, and personal and Church service.

After Albert died, she married Conrad Keller and for their honeymoon they served an LDS mission to Peoria, Illinois, spending the majority of their time in Nauvoo. They loved their mission and were a great example to all they met. After their mission, they settled in Manti, Utah, where they served in the Manti Temple for many years. They purchased and renovated the home where years before, Albert and been born and raised. That home is a gathering place for her children and grandchildren and has become a place of great memories and fun times. Conrad preceded her in death on October 31, 2015.

Margaret had a tremendous love of the gospel and a deep and abiding testimony of the Savior which she demonstrated daily through her words and actions. She served faithfully and well in many church callings and loved them

all.

Margaret is survived by her children: Drew and Donna E. Peterson, Chad and Leslie Peterson, Jill and Don Bailey, Kim and Donna Peterson, Dana and Gary Brady, Lesa and Lyman Rose; 36 grandchildren and 61+ great-grandchildren; a sister, VeLois Carbine; sister-in-law Shirley Nielson.

Also preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Errol (Elsie) Nielson, Eve Nielson, Lynn Nielson, Martha Alice (Billy) Duncan, John Henry (Renee) Nielson; brother-in-law, Dennis Carbine.
