Maren Irene Peterson Snelson, 76, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at her home in Axtell after a lingering illness. She was born July 6, 1935 in Helena, Montana to Richard Carl and Irene Palmer Peterson. She married Roy J. Snelson, July 30, 1957 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She was raised on a ranch in northern Montana, raising and showing Champion Aberdeen Angus Bulls. She had the opportunity of traveling extensively and living in both Germany and in England. Church service was important to her, she serving faithfully wherever she was called. She fulfilled two full-time missions, one in the Wyoming/South Dakota area and the other in Iowa. She also served seven years as an ordinance worker in the Manti Temple
Maren is survived by her husband, Roy, of Axtell; children, Richard Snelson, Edna Miller, Ruth Woolley and Roxanne Roth; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Axtell LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
