Major Robert J. Huntsman, ret., 74, returned to his Heavenly Father after a long, lingering illness on May 15, 2011. He was born October 26, 1936 in Richfield to Rex L. and Vonda Christiansen Huntsman. He married Mary Jeannette Nielson, December 21, 1960 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of Richfield; children: Scott (Isabell) Huntsman, Nebraska; Todd (Roxie) Huntsman, Riverton; David (Tracy) Huntsman, Oregon; Teresa (Dan) Chamberlain, Grantsville; 12 grandchildren; brothers: Newel (Mava) Huntsman and Steven (Mary) Huntsman, both of Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Cheryl Huntsman, Aurora.

Preceded in death by parents; brother, Dennis; grandson, Brian Huntsman.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 7 th LDS Ward Chapel, 159 North 400 West, where friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military rites by the US Air Force Color Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

Upon graduation from North Sevier High School he applied to the four military academies and was accepted to all but chose the Air Force Academy. After the academy he went to pilot school. He flew various aircrafts during his career in the Air Force, flying 386 missions during the Vietnam War. He received numerous medals, among them three distinguished flying crosses.
