Lois Jeffery Thalman

December 18, 1924 — March 2, 2012

Lois Jeffery Thalman, 87, died the evening of March 2, 2012, of natural causes, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in the home of her great-grandmother on Dec. 18, 1924, in Aurora, Utah. She was the first child of Alfred Barney and Thelma Okerlund Jeffery.

Lois was both warmth and light to everyone who knew her. She was constantly doing for others, often by doing without. We will miss her. Lois enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, cooking and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She grew up in Wayne County on the Jeffery Ranch. She spent her school years in Salina, graduated from North Sevier High School, and attended the University of Utah. She married Melvin J Thalman in 1946 in the Manti Temple and settled in Vermillion, Utah, just nine miles south of Salina, where the couple farmed and raised four children.

Lois was faithful in her callings, both to family and church, and was a devoted wife to Melvin J Thalman, who preceded her in death in August 1973. After Mel's death, she worked as a Deputy Clerk for Sevier County.

Lois married Dee Allred in 1984; he preceded her in death ten years later. In 1998, she married Mel Taylor of Fremont, who also preceded her in death just one year after their marriage.

Survivors include her children: Jeff (Ilene) Thalman, Richfield; Sandy (Dan) Barney, American Fork; Jim (Kim) Thalman, Farmington; and John (Laurie) Thalman, Richfield. She is also survived by her sister, LaRee (Norm) Huntsman, Orem; sister-in-law, Colleen Jeffery, Fremont; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Garn Jeffery, and her darling granddaughter, Danielle Thalman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, at 11:00 a.m in the Sigurd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary, in Richfield, on Wednesday evening form 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Sigurd on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Vermillion Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti
